Today, we are announcing a partnership with Linode, the world’s largest independent open cloud provider. It marks the continued relationship of two Philadelphia-based companies working to grow and make the esports community more accessible on both the local and national level.
As part of the partnership, Linode will serve as the “Official Cloud Hosting Sponsor” of the National Championship Series, a multi-city tournament that gives casual gamers and aspiring esports athletes the opportunity to compete for cash prizes. Linode’s global cloud computing infrastructure will power Nerd Street Gamers’ tournament matchmaking application, Lobby.gg.
“Linode provides gamers with top-tier technology and customer service,” said John Fazio, Founder and CEO of Nerd Street Gamers. “The player’s experience is a top priority for Linode and Nerd Street Gamers, and we are proud to partner with them for the National Championship Series.”
The National Championship Series creates opportunities for esports players to compete with peers, build their skills, and showcase their talent in a safe and social setting. Hundreds of tournaments and weekly training events held throughout the country under the National Championship Series banner offer unprecedented access to in-person competitive gaming, with full access to professional esports quality gaming equipment.
Launched three years before Amazon AWS, Linode plays an important role in the gaming community by providing high performance, highly scalable cloud computing that companies like Nerd Street Gamers need to connect players from around the globe.
“Our global network makes it easy for organizations like Nerd Street Gamers to deploy and scale tournaments to more players around the world,” said Blair Lyon, Vice President of Marketing at Linode. “We’re excited about the opportunity to make the gaming experience better for everyone and thrilled to make that possible with another member of Philadelphia’s amazing technology community.”
